American History Posters

American history posters are a tool used by educators so that students can connect past events to their current lives. These historic images can be illustrations of civil rights, war, government, or even sports. The goal of American history posters is to provide a backdrop and a more thorough explanation of why the culture and history of America has developed the way it has.

Many examples of American history posters make use of iconic American images. These images are ones that are synonymous with American history and events. One example of this would be 'Washington Crossing the Delaware, c. 1851'. These historical icon pictures provide snapshots of some of the most important events in American history, from the founding of a nation to the struggle for equality.

Photographic educational aids have become more and more common in the last few decades and provide a much more thorough view of American culture. Not only are important historical events addressed, such as 'Dream of a King', but other aspects of society are explored as well. These cultural development posters show the more mundane aspects of life, whether it's 'Ray Charles-At the Palladium, LA, 1973' or 'Jackie Robinson Stealing Home, May 15, 1952'.

Understanding the past is the key to unlocking the future. By using American history posters, students are given a face to go along with the facts of history. They are given an event that's immortalized in a historic image, images that goes on to become another piece of history and find a special place in their hearts.
