Pie Artwork

Modern art has reinvented pie in several ways, but none has been more popular than retro dessert prints. These works challenge the traditional themes of framed pie fine art and replace it with one of comfort within one's self and savoring a moment of relaxation alone. Art deco prints such as 'Cherry Pie' by Jennifer Bonaventura and 'Dessert' by Robert Hoglund, in particular, exemplify these themes through the use of subject matter and color scheme.

Recipe illustrations are also common among the category of pie art. These sensitive works range from whimsical to realistic and are highly appealing varieties of dessert prints. Although many of these are holiday-themed, as seen in 'Pumpkin Pie' by Dan DiPaolo, not all of them are. However, like holiday pie art these works typically deal with themes of togetherness and family, like in J.B. Grant's famous work, 'My Kitchen Prayer', which is done in traditional recipe art format.
