Charcoal Portraits

Famous artists have always been fascinated by portrays and many of them found it worthwhile to paint themselves, which resulted in some great self-portraits. While the vast majority of them used the brush to create masterpieces, there were some who had a slightly different approach and this is how the Charcoal portraits prints came to be.

The difference between charcoal portraits wall art and the conventional counterparts, is that the former tend to blend in, rather than stand out. This doesn’t make them any less visible and only enhances the pleasure of discovery, when your guests will eventually lay their eyes upon them.

The protagonist is less important in these cases, because what matters most is the manner in which the artist managed to bring the character to live. Some of the most popular charcoal portraits wall art belong to Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarotti and Francois Clouet. The former has created more than a handful of such charcoal portraits that radiate energy and attract all the eyes of the people in a room. At the first glance, some might think that these portraits are unfinished, only to discover that the author deliberately left a part of the canvas untouched to highlight an important feature.
