Maps come in different formats but they are all supposed to be geometrically accurate and two-dimensional to accurately depict distances. It is not absolutely necessary for them to represent real space and there are plenty of Colorful Maps Wall Art that are in fact centered on imagined places. Scale and context are less important, with maps ranging from geographical versions to ones that serve the purpose of mapping the brain or the human DNA.

These are steep departure from the earliest maps that were almost exclusively representing the surface of the world, as known by ancient people. A quick glance at the old and new Colorful Maps Wall Art will reveal all the misconceptions and faulty assumptions made by the former. Political maps were back then and are still today the most popular ones, as they show the borders of various territories, as opposed to physical ones which focus on geography. Geological, topographic and azimuthal maps are also used by specialists and they have a legend to help beginners figure them out.
