Lizard Art

Many of the examples of lizard canvas art display these reptiles as a symbol. This treatment can be seen in such works as 'Ancient Amphibians I' by Nancy Slocum and 'Africa' by Teyras. In Native American mythology, the lizard is a symbol of dreaming as well as of acceptance and the art of letting go. Additionally, in Africa the lizard is a sign of fertility and birth. Lizards are ingenuous reptiles that are capable of surviving in nearly any climate, from tropical rainforests to deserts. Thus, it's no surprise that lizard artwork is a popular decorative option for nearly any style.
