French Art

France has long been the cultural mecca of Western creative arts. Fashion, art, theater, food, and dance have all been affected in some way through French innovation and creativity. As such, it’s no surprise that French art is still a highly popular decor choice for a variety of styles and locales. Using this form of art in such areas of the home as the kitchen, living room, or bedroom can provide a layer of depth and sophistication that is as versatile as it is rich.

Much of French art details segments of the artistic and cultural heritage of Paris, France. This type of French art can focus on landmarks and iconic symbols of France's history, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, or the Notre Dame cathedral.

French art can also encompass less defined aspects of this country's creative heritage, a subject that has been undertaken with creativity and ingenuity by many contemporary artists who seek the essence of what France really is. These works can be as simple as a flat painting depicting an afternoon at a French cafe or as complex as the joy of a talented performer dancing. However, regardless of the subject matter, contemporary artists imbue their paintings with a feeling of excitement, passion, and creative enrichment that is rarely found as definitively in other categories of art.

French art also has several different master painters in its history, which are all as poignantly emotive as their modern counterparts. These artists include such masters as Manet, Delacroix, and Renoir.

French art brings to mind the glittering stillness of a treasured memory, whose individual qualities change depending on the use of light and bold or pastel colors. Because of this nostalgic effect, French art has a distinct edge over other categories as an uniquely viable choice for decoration in all areas of the home.
