Moises Levy Wall Art

Moises Levy (born in 1963) was born in Mexico City. He works in the city as an established architect. His earliest interest in photography and architecture occurred when he was 13 years old and was on a trip to New York City. He says that he was fascinated with the evening shadows and the buildings in the city. When he began his architectural studies at Universidad Iberoamericana in 1982, his appreciation of the natural relation between architecture and light was deepened. When he later travelled to Venice, Paris and Boston, the unbreakable bond between light and its relationship with architecture became clear to him. It was his interest in the qualities of light that lead him to photography, and in addition to his work as an architect he has now been drawn to landscape work.

Levy appreciates the states that he has learnt from and the history of the medium he uses. He is inspired by the photographic works of Edward Weston, Sebastian Salgado, Eugene Atget, and Manuel Alvarez Bravo. Although he has been self-taught in much of his photographic studies, he has attended several workshops over the years - with Byron Brauchli, and Mark Nelson. While his appreciation of light began in architecture, and his career is centered there, he says that he has a preference for landscape photography because it lets him be more flexible and organic than his work as an architect. His artwork is found in many private and corporate collections all over the world.
