Charles Crust worked for several years in aerospace management. The work kept him busy and was very productive. However, he never got the satisfaction that he was yearning for. He felt that ne need a job in which his creativity could be expressed - he strongly suspects everyone else feels the same as well. So any time that he did not devote to family he invested in pursuing his passion for photography. He took classes, read about it, and spent thousands of hours critiquing and taking shots in order to hone his skills. He did this until he was satisfied that he was able to produce high quality images. Between trips, he does commercial photography for trade books, most of which are quilt books written by Melody, his wife and travel partner. Melody is a nationally recognized fabric artist.

An opportunity for early retirement arose and now he’s able to travel to every corner of the globe with his cameras in hand. About 10 years ago, he used to take shots of people on bicycles. He still likes to take those pictures, but now he has to be careful not to be mowed down by the many electric scooters zooming along every street. He records what he sees and experiences on film. His editorial and travel portfolio includes many countries, but he says he loves China so much, because this is where he spent at least a month each and every year photographing the big growth that country was experiencing.
