Kevin Schafer (Born 1951) has been a writer and natural history photographer for more than 30 years. As a professional, his career has taken him to all 7 continents and into the company of some of the most extraordinary animals in the world. He trained as a seabird biologist, an ornithologist, and after the training, he began his photographic career as the assistant to Galen Rowell the late National Geographic photographer. Since then, Schafer has specialized in documenting the endangered species and also the ecosystems that are threatened around the world, especially in Polar Regions and the tropical rain forest. Schafer is very committed to aiding conservation efforts and has worked for several years with the World Wildlife Fund. He was also the co-founder of the International League of Conservation Photographers.

For his Photography of Endangered Species, he received the Gerald Durrell Award in 1997, and the North American Nature Photographers Association also named him as the Outstanding Nature Photographer of 2007. Schafer also received the National Outdoor Book Award. His books include Penguin Planet, Living Light, Costa Rica: Forests of Eden, and Falkland Islands: Between the Wind & Sea. The photographer currently lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife Martha Hill who is also an artist and writer. His pieces of work are easily recognizable because they are produced in a unique style. His art and his books are in great demand all over the globe and are highly priced by many distributors. His art are selling in large numbers because they can be used to decorate any space.
