Tea Pot Paintings

Teapot art is a popular choice for design in kitchens and dining areas. These works have as much variety and design value as the ceramics they depict. Teapots have been portrayed in Eastern and Western cultures fairly equally, which gives artists a beautiful, and diversified, subject matter.

Teapot art is popular for its quaint appearance and comforting themes. However, not everyone who wishes to incorporate teapot art into their home is looking for the same thing. Teapot art is divided into roughly two sets of themes. There are some pieces that focus on the classic and sophisticated connotations of the subject and regard it as a peaceful and civilized work meant for contemplation and meditation and there are others that focus on the homely aspects of teapots, such as the warmth of the beverage and sharing it with company. Despite these thematic differences, this artwork is meant to comfort and soothe its viewer.

Because of the various influences that affect this category of art, the styles of both the painting and the item being portrayed have many artistic options for modern artists. These styles can be as realistically charming as Del Gish's work 'Apples and Tea' or as whimsically graphic as 'Asian Tea Set II' by Jennifer Sosik. However, the people who appreciate teapots, and the art depicting them, find the wide range of styles ideal when it comes to their decorating needs.

Finding the perfect piece of teapot art for a home is largely personal endeavor, although it does help to be aware of the setting in which the work will be presented. Works such as 'Ivy Teapot' by Barbara Mock, for example, would be more attractive in a formal dining room or den while the pop art qualities of 'Top Shelf Cafe' by Avery Tillman is perfect for lending a warm, rustic feel to any kitchen. There are also works of teapot art which are able to be placed in nearly any setting, such as the 'Cream and Sugar' series by Alain Pelletier and other vintage works.
