Star of David Art

The Shield of David, or more colloquially the Star of David, is a symbol used in modern times to represent Judaism religion. The star represents the emblem that was on David's shield. The image has become widely famous for its significance and is held sacred by many who confess the faith. A good example of a Star of David art that depicts how the star is used is "Close-up of a menorah with a Star of David." Israel, a country which is dominantly Jewish, has a Star of David right in the middle of their flag. It’s however evident that the Star of David outgrows Judaism, and is widely used by many other people who don’t confess the faith. Pictures of the Star of David are being used in several quarters for different connotations. For example, the shatkona found in Hinduism is a similar star, though it isn’t considered the Star of David. Star of David pictures are also found in the U.S. dollar bill, the American flag, among several other areas of sports, politics and religion. Another example where the Star of David is used is the Co-Exist bumper sticker, just like is evident in the artwork "Co-Exist" in our gallery.
