Native American People Art

Nothing speaks truer to American history than the plight of the Native American, Native American wall art depicts the stoic looks and open lands of America’s first people. Classical emblems of the Native American tribe are depicted in many of the artworks. “White Shield” portrays the classic, feather headdress of one of the most famous Arikara chiefs.

Pieces like “Calico-Ogala” and “Chief Garfield – Jicarilla Apache” by Robert Michaels portray the power behind Native American people and their chiefs. With brave faces, Native American sketches bring incredible power to the Native American leaders of the past. Even “An Old Warrior” and “A Jemez Indian” by Robert Michaels show the strength and courage of Native Americans.

Native Americans were some of the first to easily be able to dye fabric blues and purples, a fact Bob Coonts exhibits in his pieces “Proud Paint” and Dream Seeker”. Marianne Millar also embraces the bright, colorful lives of tribal clothing through her Native American Figurative sketch “Dancing ‘Til Dawn”. The beauty in all three of these pieces lie in the lively colors used to depict life of a Native American.

“Brave Spirit” by Lee Bogle and “The Natchez” by “Eugene Delacroix show a softer side to the historical Native American way of life. Instead of stoic expressions, these Native American paintings bring to life the romantic side of living one with nature. Each painting uses soft greys and pinks to bring a subtle tone of intimacy while maintaining respect for a people so brave.
