Chocolate Art

Chocolate is used for a variety of things and this is shown clearly in chocolate art. Boasting diverse styles, depictions, and mediums, chocolate art is delightfully whimsical and deliciously decadent. Unlike many other forms of dessert paintings, chocolate fine art generally doesn't let the focus of the painting stray too far from the confection and chocolate is usually the main subject.

Beverage art is a popular mode for highlighting chocolate treats. These works display everything from milkshakes to martinis and are highly popular for depicting the versatility of this culinary delight. Chocolate beverage paintings can either be whimsical or realistic, depending on the purpose of these works. For example, the realistic depiction of 'Chocolate Tea' by Steven Norman highlights the old-fashioned comfort of a favorite beverage while 'Chocolate Martini' by Anthony Morrow focuses more on enjoying the moment.

With modern art's focus on redefining and reinventing common objects, it's no surprise that retro chocolate prints have become common. These works range from unique depictions of chocolate creations to sign art that uses typography to suggest certain ideas about the subject, as seen in 'Chocolate' by Amalia Lopez.

Black and white dessert photos also commonly employ small chocolates in their execution. These works generally focus on the contrast of light and dark, often choosing to use dark chocolate rather than milk or white varieties. Works like 'Chocolate Temptation' by Martina Schindler are prime examples of this treatment. However, some photographers choose to use other color contrasts, such as red and brown to provide warmth to their pictures.
