State Maps

State maps art is enabling people to show their patriotism for their home state in a different and creative way. There is a wide choice of state maps artwork available. Artist David Bowman has created several evocative styles that represent the states and what they are known for. He creates either a silhouette of the state or a simple geometric shape and then fills that shape with words. These are the names of cities or important features of each state. The name of the state is highlighted by being in a lighter tone of the predominant color.

One of the most interesting pieces on offer is an antique state maps wall art by Alvin Jewett Johnson. He lived from 1827 to 1884 and is famous for having produced detailed maps of the states of the Union, which he compiled into atlases. His New Map of the State of Texas is a fascinating piece of history that would make a wonderful addition to home or office decor.
